The contents of your collection live in your phone's memory:
Records live in the app's database, photos in the app's own directory. Neither is available to other apps. Uninstalling Beauty Stuff erases all of it along with the app.
Until you sign in, that is all there is: the app works offline, and nothing from your collection goes anywhere.
Signing in is needed for syncing and for the paid features; without them it is not required. Sign-in goes through your Google account, and accounts themselves are handled by Firebase Authentication, a service of Google LLC. What is kept about you:
The app never sees or stores your Google password: signing in is done by Android itself.
You turn syncing on and you turn it off. While it is off, nothing listed below leaves your device.
While it is on, the contents of your collection are copied to the cloud:
Records are stored in Cloud Firestore, photos in Firebase Cloud Storage; both services belong to Google LLC. The data sits in a section marked with your identifier, and the access rules are written so that only someone signed in as you can read that section. We do not read the contents of your collection.
Turning syncing off stops the exchange but does not by itself erase what was already sent. How to erase it is below, under “How long this is kept”.
These are paid features. They work through our server, which talks to a language model made by Anthropic PBC (USA). Nothing goes to it directly from the app.
Your comments on products are never sent — neither when reading a photo nor for advice. They are the most personal thing in a collection, and they stay on the device.
Anthropic receives the above in order to answer the request. How that company handles the data it receives is described in its privacy policy and developer terms.
What our own server keeps:
The photos themselves are not stored on our server. They pass through it to the model and are not kept.
Payment goes through Google Play. Card details and payment information are handled by Google; the app never sees them. Google Play tells our server the state of your subscription — active, on hold or cancelled — and the server ties that to your account in order to unlock the paid features.
So that our server is not called by other programs, the app uses Firebase App Check with Play Integrity: Google confirms that a request came from a genuine Beauty Stuff installed from Play. Nothing from your collection takes part in that check.
When the app crashes or trips over an error, a technical report is sent:
The contents of your collection, your photos and product names are not part of the report.
The library collects anonymous information about usage:
This shows how many people use the app and which screens they use. No user profile is built from it, and no ads are shown in the app.
On top of that, the app itself sends a few events about the purchase screen: whether it was opened, which feature brought you there, which tier and period were chosen, whether there was a free trial, and how it ended. This is what tells us whether the offer works, and what makes breakage visible — a purchase screen that opened empty, for instance.
Nothing from your collection goes into those events: what travels is the shape of the purchase, not the purchaser. No product names, no ingredients, no notes.
How Google handles the data it receives is described in Google's privacy policy and in the Firebase terms.
On “Save a backup” the app builds a zip archive with products, directories and photos and hands it to the system save dialog. Where the file goes is up to you: device storage, a memory card or cloud storage. The app does not send the archive anywhere by itself and has no access to your other files.
If Google backup is enabled in your device settings, the operating system copies the app's database and settings to your Google Drive by itself. Photos are not included in such a backup. This is done by Android, not by the app: Beauty Stuff has no access to the contents of that backup. It can be turned off in device settings, under “Google → Backup”.
Data on your device lives until you delete it or uninstall the app.
The cloud copy lives as long as you use it. If there has been no syncing for six months, the copy is deleted along with the photos and the account. A month before that we write to the address of your Google account — so that you have time to come back and lose nothing, simply by opening the app. We never delete without warning.
Your collection on the phone stays where it is: only the cloud copy is deleted.
You can delete everything at once yourself: “Settings → Account → Delete account”. That erases the cloud records, the photos and the account itself.
Taking an ordinary product photo needs no permission: the shot is taken by the system camera app, which hands over the finished file. A photo from the gallery is picked through the system dialog, which passes on only the selected image. Beauty Stuff has no access to any other pictures on your device.
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
If what is collected changes, this text will be updated together with the app, and the date at the top will change with it. By continuing to use the app after an update you accept the new version.
